| nickname(s)/alias(es); | Goes by Aaron, his English name, rather than Eito, his Japanese name. | |||
| age & d.o.b; | 25 / April 11 2183. | |||
| ethnicity; | Japanese Canadian. | |||
| sexuality; | Heterosexual. | |||
| hobbies, interests, talents; | Black belt in karate: he took it when he was younger and keeps himself refreshed. His mother tried to force him to like violin when he was a small child, but by the end of elementary school, he had stopped going to lessons. As a result, he has basic musical knowledge, but the skill has faded. He's also very interested in photography, a master at hackey sack, and he likes comic books far more than he would ever admit to another human being. | |||
| immediate family; | father;; Anthony Akihito Yamazaki (52) mother;; Hamako Yamazaki nee Suzuki (47) older sister;; Charlotte Chieko Yamazaki (27) younger sister;; Olivia Megumi Yamazaki (21) |

| occupation; | Police officer. | |||
| appearance; | Standing at a rather unimposing 5'7 -- an unfortunate side effect of two short parents -- Aaron defies his less-than-towering stature by making it a point to avoid the image of a pushover, instead carrying himself with an ample supply of calm confidence. He's left his rebellious days of hair-dye behind (an uncomfortable subject in the Yamazaki household, even if it was less offensive to his parents' senses than piercings and tattoos might have been), and now that he is settled into adulthood, Aaron has settled on his natural black hair for a more professional and mature appearance. The air of professionalism tends to suspend as the eye strays from his head, however. With a strong preference for comfort in his clothes, Aaron's wardrobe is almost entirely composed of casual attire, peppered with dress and formal clothing to suit his occasional needs. He's often seen in jeans and a tank top, though a light jacket is worn on top whilst in buildings that require it -- unfortunate, considering his distaste for being hot. He never looks messy or slobbish, but he never looks pretentiously clean-cut, either. |

| personality; | First and foremost, Aaron is a friendly and low-key individual. It's a rarity for him to legitimately dislike someone who isn't fully deserving of his ire, and he makes an effort, at the very least, to be kind to the people around him. He has always gotten along with his peers, due to his playful, roll-with-it personality, and the arrangement has always suited him. He loves being around people, whether the intimacy of small groups or the thrill of large, and one of the things he hates most is the feeling of loneliness: for someone who likes the independence of making his own decisions, he is far more emotionally dependent than detached. Relationships are important to him, and he feels a strong loyalty and dedication to the people he considers close friends or comrades. There is a very casual and relaxed vibe that seems to exude from Aaron. The high-strung nature of his family rolls easily off his back, and he doesn't get too bent out of shape when the household grows uncomfortable. He's bothered when people are upset, but his grudges are few and far between -- usually ending swiftly unless the grievance is particularly serious. He strives for a pleasant environment by acting pleasant, even if such an attitude can go terribly right or terribly wrong. A household of passive-aggression rarely solves it's troubles, but that doesn't stop his own from carrying on in its ways. The stiffness and pretension his parents asked of him is well lost in his own manner, however, and he refuses to walk around as if he has a stick up his rear. Even with his casual and easygoing nature, the Achilles heel surfaces when Aaron finds himself forced into something without options. He doesn't like the feeling of being cornered into something without his permission -- though it rarely occurs to him that the gist of being cornered is rarely a thing that anyone gives permission for. He maintains his cool and opts for subdued surliness, looking for the most effective way to slip out of or around the situation. Despite the bubbling of frustration, he is careful to remain polite and respectful -- after all, he was raised in a Japanese household that holds politeness and respect in high regard, and even if he is less of a conformer than his parents would have preferred, at the very least his good manners stuck. With the blessing of a level head on his shoulders, Aaron has always approached the world around him with a sense of ease and care. Impulses are regulated and categorized to the point where they abandon their status as an impulse, becoming instead a collected consideration. He is never the first to run headlong into a situation or to throw his weight around in an attempt to find answer -- instead, he prefers to take the more thoughtful route, to tease out and puzzle the solution to a problem. Tact. Tact is notable, important, necessary. He upholds a sense of consistent rationality in his workplace, as a police officer, and he is unafraid of giving his coworkers a nudge to take a step back and cool their jets when he feels they are getting ahead of themselves, whether in anger, excitement, or any other overpowering sort of emotion. While he has the ability to objectively look at the occupational and emotional problems of those around him, that same objectiveness rarely applies in his assessment of his own life. It is not an intended hypocrisy, but to take the step outside of himself and look at the problem from a less personal point of view tends to happen in hindsight rather than in the moment it's occurring. Introspection is less common than observation. Rationality takes patience, and Aaron has patience in spades. Slow to anger and quick to forgive, he retains a generally mellow disposition and handles the stress of other people's stress with skill and understanding. He's quietly passionate, rendering his emotions almost louder in their silence; they are not so much hidden as they are direct and calmed from the stronger internal reaction. Stoicism has never appealed to him, and the closed-off nature of his father often clashes with Aaron's own feeling that it's better to be honest and open than to bottle up until you explode. He's never seen his father explode before, but even if he were to try to hide his thoughts, Aaron's always felt as if he's doomed to wear his heart on his sleeve. |

| habits & quirks; | Fidgets when he's thinking, such as twirling a pen in his fingers, tapping his foot, or drumming his fingers. It's not a bunch of things every time, but fidgeting helps him think, and he likes to be moving, even if just subtly. He hates using pencils once the eraser is gone; he gets grumpy about having to cross things out when pencils are intended for the purpose of being able to erase things. He doesn't wear shoes in people's houses. | |||
| likes & dislikes; | Likes: Cats, watching car-racing, rock/rap/R&B music, being active, carrots, swimming, history, his mother's authentic Japanese food, french fries, winter/cold weather. Dislikes: Math, narrow-minded people, snakes/scorpions/crawly things, sugary pop music, wasting time, rudeness, being alone, excessive piercings, classical music. |

| biography; | The Yamazakis' settlement in North America occurred generations before Aaron was ever brought into the world -- back when the world crashed down around them all. Five generations before him, Aaron's great-great-great-great grandfather uprooted his wife to move to New Alexandria, the remaining undestroyed metropolis, going from a low-ranking government worker to the owner of what would grown to become a very successful chain of authentic Japanese restaurants. The family rooted itself into the business over the succeeding generations as Aaron's father -- Anthony -- eventually fell in suit. He was set up with a lovely young Japanese woman to be his bride in the spring of 2180; coming from a fairly prominent family, it seemed an appropriate. Hanako was a good deal younger, not long out of high school, but by the following year, she was pregnant with their first child: a little girl, Chieko, who was given the English name Charlotte. Around them stormed the after affects of a post-nuclear world and the forming of organized crime groups, but within the next passing year, Hanako was pregnant again. Anthony had wanted a boy, rendering that first year's stretch into a time of disappointment and distance, but the second birth was a success -- with Aaron's arrival came the boy he had longed for, and the tension in the household seemed to gradually dissipate. Anthony was not an engaged father, even with the arrival of a male child -- neither his personality nor his busy governmental job in the midst of a crisis would allow it -- but Hanako raised her two children in peace as her husband busied himself in the growing success of his father's restaurant business. Aaron was an easy baby, relatively pleasant and quiet if a bit stubborn toward his caretakers. His disposition watchful and observant, rather than a toddler intent on throwing himself headfirst into every task, but he progressed at a normal pace and kept himself busy at the sides of his elder sister and mother. He clung to them at every opportunity, hating to be left to fend for himself, and despite his father's criticism that his son shouldn't be coddled into dependence, nothing but the company of others seemed to ease the baby's discontent. Hanako was determined to make her children the accomplished apples of her eye, forcing them into music lessons from a very young age, but Aaron had never found the violin to be particularly appealing. Nor the piano, nor the cello, nor the flute or oboe, though the latter attempts were not pursued by his mother until he was beginning to get older. Charlotte was always more talented in the musical area, and despite Aaron's most pleasant attempts at martyrdom for the sake of his determined mother, he could not, would not enjoy the noble art of producing classical music. Transitioning from home into the school setting was uniquely difficult, eliciting stubborn fusses early on, but Aaron soon learned and adapted to the fact that it was not his mother abandoning him; it was simply another place to play, and he found friendship in his peers quite quickly. He was friendly and social, even as a baby, and the mellow nature settled in once again. A third and final child joined their family around this time when Aaron was five years old -- another little girl, and far more high strung than Charlotte and Aaron combined. Their little Ikuye. Their little Jenna. Despite her fussy behavior, Aaron took to her quickly, eager to spend time playing with her and helping his mother and Charlotte. She was just a helpless baby, and his own temper had evened out and developed into a strong sense of patience and affection. By the time he was six years old, those worldwide problems had fully calmed to a seemingly calm and normal existence -- almost as if the world outside his own was of little consequence, as if the world had not collapsed on itself just a generation before. He was absorbed in karate classes, comic books, school work, (the dreaded) violin lessons, and the control of the city by organized crime never dawned on him in even the vaguest of ways. His father seemed to grow increasingly absorbed in the restaurant -- business was booming, blessed with a coveted spot in the downtown district. Aaron's days at school kept him busy enough to leave little room for interest in the restaurant, and he continued to excel in his classes, if only to convince his parents that he was mature enough to handle having hobbies he was actually interested in. By the end of elementary school, he had wiggled his way out of violin lessons and onto a swimming team, having reached the much-envied black belt at the local karate dojo. Junior high and high school passed in a fairly standard fashion; a desire for quiet rebellion settled in and manifested itself in red-toned hair dye, much to his parents' disapproval. His rationalization that at least it was not blue and/or accompanied with tattoos was not nearly as effective as he would have liked, but the return of tension was the extent of the confrontation. Girls were steadily discovered, and in turn doled out their acceptances and rejections of their male peers' pursuits. Aaron was neither a serial dater nor a hermit -- neither intimidated by nor made seedily entranced with their charms, having two sisters at home to dispel their mystery. He fell into a comfortable middle ground of occasional casual dates and a serious girlfriend in high school that ended far more sourly than he would have preferred. It was a chapter of his life he was not too sad to end. With the end of high school came the beginning of the rest of his life, however, and less trivial matters took the front seat. His father for years had pushed for Aaron to attend college and join him in the flourishing restaurant business -- but despite the knowledge of expectation, the idea appealed to Aaron very little. No amount of coaching made sitting in an office, running a business sound appealing, and his best attempts at cooking were questionable at best. He attended a high-end university, and four years later, he graduated with a major in criminal justice. He had made his attempts to be interested in business, but his desire to lie about his interests was rarely a strong one, and by the end of his education, he was more certain than ever that it wasn't his goal. It was during his university years that Aaron had his first serious girlfriend after the string of a laid back, relaxed dating style throughout high school and the beginning of college. She was outgoing and friendly -- seemingly a perfect fit, a legitimate click that reeled in Aaron's affections quite instantly. The nearing of their college years spelled the possibility of marriage, but a rather striking breakup laid those plans quite solidly to rest. The change in plans was a somewhat shaking event and not in the least bit lacking in laments to his closest friend, but every attempt was made to keep the change from negatively affecting his performance. For some time prior to graduation, he had been considering the options he did want to pursue, but no matter what he considered, he always came back to to the idea of being a police officer -- the inspiration for his chosen degree. Seeing to the upholding of justice and rightness was appealing to part of him, and the idea of driving fast with no consequences appealed to another, quite different part of him, but no matter how he looked at it, the fit felt right, at least in theory. It was a fulfilling thing to throw himself into, and a way to make a difference at the same time. He had never held a gun, but he imagined most people hadn't, and was that not what training was for? Their world needed decent law enforcement, and he was willing to put his life on the line, especially if it meant he wouldn't be stuck with a boring governmental job for the rest of his life. His criminal justice classes had held his interest far more than any droning business class, and it all felt so very clear-cut in his mind. The lack of wisdom inherent in applying for the police academy without his parents' permission was not apparent to Aaron until after the fact, but it had left him with a pleasantly vindicated feeling for the moment. The chance to regain a foothold of security and control over the world around him. His rational approach to life always seemed to suspend itself at inconvenient times in regards to his personal life, and the irritation that rained down on him from his father was a swift knock back to reality. Even so, after the scoldings of his lack of communication (not that he needed permission as an adult), he refused to cancel his application. A sudden, particular fondness for his sisters came over him, thanks to their convenient femaleness and his own convenient maleness that prevented the threats of estrangement, and eventually the tangible discomfort began to fade. The 24 weeks at the academy seemed to fly by; intense as they were, ending the day with the exhaustion of a full schedule was welcomed, and he enjoyed the opportunity to bond with his fellow officers-to-be. His easy-going nature prevented fights and smoothed over conflicts that arose over due to mounting stress, and he fit himself into their world with the self-confidence that he was meant to be there. Keeping active and solving problems made life bearable again, and as his time at the academy began to come to a close, he began making overtures of apology to his father. The micromanaging explosion from his father was mostly past, and the tension was less sharp than it had been, but he didn't like to be at odds with his family if it could be helped -- even if his father was being a control freak. There was a worry that he wouldn't show up for Aaron's ceremony for the complete of his training, but near the end of the ceremony when his father arrived, it seemed that a silent acceptance was being offered. Fitting into the role of a police officer was not a particularly difficult transition. He already knew the other trainees, and the thrill of starting a new job (his first actual job, at that) overrode most other worries. He was assigned a partner, and he found is easy to slide into his duties. Taking his job very seriously (at least while on the job), he put everything into doing a good job and making a success of his choice. Whether the others opted to be friendly or surly, helpful or condescending, he settled as a calming, friendly force -- negativity was left to roll easily off his back. Aaron's first paycheck was used to acquire an apartment of his own, moving out from under his family's protective roof and into the real world. He regretted leaving his mother and sisters behind (Charlotte was still at home, and Jenna was barely finishing high school), but as a university graduate with a job, he knew it was time to pull himself away. Life on his own was unfortunately lonely after the years of living in a house of five, but he bought himself a tiny kitten black kitten named Babbit for company. Not exactly the caliber of human contact, but he grew exceedingly fond of the kitten, and he was grateful to have something to be affectionate toward when no one else was around to keep him busy. By the following year, a turtle named Mike was added to their montage (which was carefully kept out of Babbit's reach, just in case), and the apartment felt at least slightly more complete than it had upon moving in. With the growing interest in investigating the families of organized crime rooted in New Alexandria, Aaron feels a growing determination to see them come to an eventual end. Calculated crime was much more alarming than the ones acting off of recklessness or stupidity or ignorance. It was these "families" who formed groups for the sole purpose of crime -- and although the police force had never paid them much mind in the past, the more noticeable it became, the more difficult it was to brush over. |
